Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, namely:

  • Contact & form details, when you use our contact, partnership, program registration, event suggestion, story-idea, or careers forms, we collect the information you submit (such as your name, email address, organisation, phone number, country, and message).
  • Newsletter sign-ups, your email address (and any details you provide) when you subscribe to updates.
  • Anonymous usage data, aggregate, non-identifying statistics about how visitors use the site (see Analytics & cookies below).

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and requests.
  • To process partnership, program, and event submissions and follow up with you.
  • To send you the updates you have asked to receive. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe option.
  • To understand and improve how our website performs.

We rely on your consent (which you give by submitting a form or subscribing) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving FAS. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

How your information is stored & shared

Form submissions are emailed to our team and, where relevant, stored in our content platform (Sanity). Email is delivered through reputable third-party providers. These processors handle your data only to provide their service to us and are bound by their own data protection obligations. We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

Analytics & cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that measures site traffic without cookies and without collecting any personal or identifying data. Because we do not use tracking cookies, no cookie-consent banner is required.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may unsubscribe from our communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@futureafricanscientist.org.

Children

Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
